Mathes v. MacBurney: Bishop MacBurney Speaks out

In case you missed this dramatic admission of guilt from earlier today...  What will this crazed lunatic do next?  Deny the physical resurrection of Christ?  Give communion to the non-baptized?  Bless unholy unions?   Quick! run him out of the church before he confirms any more non-episcopalian children.

Bishop MacBurney Speaks out - A retired bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Quincy on Thursday said he won't fight charges that he broke church law last year by performing confirmations at a San Diego church.

"You can't fight them because it's true - I did it," Bishop Retired Edward MacBurney said.

The 80-year-old MacBurney, who lives in Clinton Valley, Iowa, served as bishop of the west-central Illinois diocese from 1988 to 1994.

Read it all.

Thanks [Titus One Nine].

Re: "the essence of the charge is the claim that MacBurney is prohibited from ministering within the geographical territory of another Episcopal diocese even if the church to which he ministers is no longer affiliated with The Episcopal Church."

Let me understand this...TEC will pick and choose which parts of God's Word they will obey, but will insist that every "jot and tittle" of canon law be followed in this instance.

Does this from I Timothy 1:8,9 apply here?  But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, knowing this: that the lawis not made for a righteous person...

I used to get a big kick out

I used to get a big kick out of the, "jot and tittle" canonical fundamentalist jokes you could tell about The Episcopal Church.  'Seems, however, those days are over as of HOB deposition farce 2008.
