Archbishop Gregory Venables in San Diego

The Most Reverend Gregory Venables, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone and Diocesan of Argentina, will be in town briefly Wednesday, April 30th to meet with area clergy and then worship at a special mass to be held at St. Anne's Anglican Church in Oceanside.

Archbishop Venables has graciously taken on provisional oversight of several clergy and congregations in San Diego who have wanted to remain Anglican while "walking apart" from The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego and the overall direction of the American Episcopal Church (TEC).  (read more...)

Sabbath Healings Have Got To Stop!

As long as canon law is followed to the last letter, it's OK to set fire to your own house and walk away, but if a fire truck pulls up and parks in a passenger-loading-only zone, then somebody had better issue that truck a parking ticket pronto.

In a statement given to a reporter from The Living Church, a spokesman for Presiding Bishop Gregory Venables of the Southern Cone said the provincial leadership was aware of the constitutional impediments before voting unanimously to issue its “emergency, temporary and pastoral” invitation to affiliate. “Both the House of Bishops of the Southern Cone and the General Synod decided to go ahead because of the nature of the emergency,” the spokesman said.  (read more...)
