Video: Field Trip to Latin Mass with Gregorian Chant, Palestrina

Palestrina Mass for St. Anne's Patronal Feast.

We had the good fortune of an invitation from our friends to St. Anne's Parish (RC) on the occasion of their patronal feast day, 26 July 2009.

This rapidly growing church normally uses the latin mass, including Gregorian forms, and has made it its mission to become something of a center for sacred music in our region.  It is to their credit that several members of San Diego's Little Brothers of the Oratory attend their regularly.

St. Anne's parish is located in Logan Heights. More information can be found at http://www.stannes-sandiego.org.

I was impressed with the choir director who, after the service let us know she was following what was happening in the American Anglican church and gave us a warm and knowing welcome as members of a local ACNA parish.  This in context with some of the vocal talent that day being borrowed from St Paul's Cathedral and St. James, La Jolla.

We will be watching this congregation with some interest as they develop their music program.   We serve a God of truth, beauty, and goodness, do we not?
