Archbishop Gregory Venables in San Diego
Location
The Most Reverend Gregory Venables, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone and Diocesan of Argentina, will be in town briefly Wednesday, April 30th to meet with area clergy and then worship at a special mass to be held at St. Anne's Anglican Church in Oceanside.
Archbishop Venables has graciously taken on provisional oversight of several clergy and congregations in San Diego who have wanted to remain Anglican while "walking apart" from The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego and the overall direction of the American Episcopal Church (TEC).
Together with Rt. Reverend William (Bill) Atwood, Archbishop Venables directly oversees Anglican Church of the Resurrection, San Marcos (Fr. Eric Menees, Rector) Sts. Timothy and Titus, Poway (Fr. Russell Martin, Rector) and, I'm quite pleased to say, my own Holy Trinity Parish, Ocean Beach (Fr. Lawrence Bausch, Rector). St. Anne's Anglican Church, Oceanside is part of the Anglican Diocese of Bolivia (Southern Cone) under Rt. Reverend Frank Lyons.
Don't arrive earlier than me, because I want a seat too, but do get there early as it promises to be well-attended to say the least.
This is truly a rare opportunity to hear....get this....a Godly (!), plain speaking (!!), unpretentious (!!!), and pastoral (I know, it sounds crazy!) Anglican Archbishop.
See you there.
